Thanks Lily love! And thanks for posting the photo! Haven't seen mine around at all yet today, Maybe this evening I'll see him again ( Sure hope so anyway)

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow. . .Congrats, MajiA!!

Also, thanks for the pics - all of you with hummers (you have to know how jealous that makes me).

A few weeks ago while keeping track of the Rubies on 'Hummingbirds.net', I saw they were still way south. Then, suddenly, about a week later they were all the way to Canada! Soooo... In a panic, I quickly made some sugar water and as soon as it cooled, filled 3 feeders...then waited...and waited...and... You get the picture.

I just checked again and they now have a little article about the strange migration this year. For those of you unfamiliar with the site (one of the best around) I'll put the link in the following post since I forgot to get it for this one.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Here's the link to that article. If you haven't been to this site, spend a little time here. It's very informative - and be sure to check out the migration maps (for Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, only).

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

one year!!! Awesome.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow - dellrose...Congrats!!
We're gonna have to start calling your place "San dellrose Capistrano! People will start showing up on the exact same day every year to watch the arrival of the Hummingbirds! (I know, I can get carried away sometimes).

But seriously, can hardly wait for your pics.

Not only have my Hummer feeders been getting lonely with no visiters, but with overnight freezes all week I've had to bring them in at night.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Congrats dellrose!! Look forward to the photos !

I meant to post this the other day, Not the best shot at all, but, I did get him, He has been very elusive! ...

Great image dellrose... an image of a bird in flight is always great and that of an hummer is especially adorable.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Dellrose! I have to keep changing lenses for different shots I'm taking in the yard and I had the short lens on at the time I took his photo, If I had the longer lens on I could have gotten a closer view, But, I'm happy that I finally got him anyway :)
Love your photo! It's great to get them in flight and not always an easy thing to do, Especially when losing the light of the day!!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Oh so nice to see some hummers!!! Congrats to all, who's got them in their yard!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

YAY.......had a male at the feeder about 15 minutes ago!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

congrats!!! I should be seeing one soon, April 28 is my usual first date.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Yay Nanny, your should be very close by, Mrs-Ed. My feeder is out and waiting for some early arrival........One can only hope, I guess! My hummer due date, is May 10.

Kenner, LA

The winds are blowing from the South down here in Louisiana. That means the little guys and gals are going to take advantage of that tail wind and fly northwards. You should soon see them.

Good luck.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

weee! come and get me.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

We are seeing a few more hummers flitting around. More orioles showing up too.

Beachwood, NJ(Zone 6b)

First male of the season arrived Saturday, April 28! Yay!

Edelstein, IL

We saw our first hummer of the season May 1' the weather hadn't been nice and this was the first day we had spent out on the sun porch for a while so not sure when he got here. Sure good to see they are returning.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Congrats on your new arrivals nanny_56, Grandmaggie, And kdm1000!!

Palmyra, MO

My first male showed this morning on May 2. As soon as he arrived I refreshed all my feeders and he has been here all day. I was so happy to see him!

The weather has been rainy for days and now really warm and humid temps for today and rest of week.

Yay, I have a male this morning at the honeysuckle.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

I've had some of my feeders out for about a month (since the migration map showed lots of early hummers).
No hummers yet, but I'm expecting some in the next couple of days.

Our Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks arrived a few days ago and I saw Orioles yesterday. The Hummers usually come between the third week in April to the first week in May. We have a Mallard pair that have been visiting for about 5 years and they've been here for weeks.

It's funny the way they all "just-show-up", like it's just another day at the office.

CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE YOUR HUMMERS!!!!

Palmyra, MO

I was just thinking the same thing. I keep seeing mid west posts here the last 48 on the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, the RT Hummers, and the Orioles.

I had my RB Grosbeak all day yesterday and RT hummers constant for the last 48 hours, but still no Orioles. My Oranges and Jams are out but all I seem to attract are bees and flies lol.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

I have Hummers!! I have Hummers!

A little male showed up at the feeder by my kitchen window while I was making dinner. I was so excited I was practically yelling.

Yup, he showed up like it was just another day at the office.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

LOL with your saying "Just like another day at the office". Need to coin that one. I enjoyed it too. I've spotted both males and females here, so yippie! They are here to stay for a while.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Sprout13 - Normally the Orioles fly right over to the oranges, grape jelly or sugar water feeder, but the ones I saw yesterday (adult males) were more interested in the suet feeders. Go figure.
Congrats on the constant hummers. Your Orioles will probably show up any day.

Lily_love - Fine by me if you like that saying. Glad to hear you have both males & females. Our females won't show up for a bit, yet.

You should have seen me by the window when the little male showed up. It's amazing how one tiny little jewel can make a grown woman act like a nut-case. I was jumping all around and cheering!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

First sighting of a female today! I was able to snap this one bad shot!!
