So, Kim, which do you think you like the most: containers or in the ground? Both are pretty.
I am thinking I will start annuals from seed and transplant them into the tulip garden. Mine will have to be full sun and drought tolerant. I want annuals as I don't want to worry about putting the tulips around the perennials. If I put perennials in the bed, to me, it changes the character of the bed. Right now, I have gobs of annual poppies coming up amongst the tulips. Soon, the poppies and the tulips will be gone. Then, I need to come up with something else that is heat and drought tolerant.

birder17, to start annuals indoor in early winter and awaiting to transplant them out once the tulips are done with their blooms. That sounds like a thing to do. I wished I have a sunny place to do so. As far as preference I like either way to plant tulips for myself. Though plant in the ground I've more space to work with. In the containers, the work is minimal, then so is the enjoyment. ^_^
