The Trellis that the evergreen Clematis are on. The vines are very large one on each end. It took down the 'stick built' trellis when we firt moved in years ago. So DH carefully built a second trellis when the old one collapsed.

So fun! kim

I love that view.

Thank you Marie, Kim, and Arlene. I'll tell hubby of your compliments. I went back and look. Boys! Aren't these early this year due to our exceptionally warm winter. Last year, they didn't bloom until 1st week of March. When the Redbuds were blooming at the same time. Here are two pix taken 3/10/11 of the redbuds and the evergreen clematis. The two compliment one another beautifully.

For this year, I'm so hoping the two will catch up with one another--the clematis and the Redbuds. The redbud (still has a way to go here) buds are still very tight and small yet. But the Clematis are sending out more, and more buds as well. I hope, so hopeful this year.

Finally they-- the two flowers decided to have a duet. lol The Armandii clematis and the Redbuds. ^_^

I have roses putting out new shoots, Clems growing, daffodils blooming, but the crocus are just popping out of the ground.

Marie, spring is def. on the air. Birds are building their nests. I'm looking forward to the growing season. I've a few crocus blooming here. Hiacynths and Daffs were early this year as well.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Lots of crocuses already in bloom and the daffodils are in bud but not yet blooming. Hyacinths have pushed up and clematises are showing swollen buds as are the roses. What a wonderful winter we've had.

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

I was hearing all the noise the other evening and I thought maybe we had another ground hog digging under the shed. I tip toed out and walked over the bridge next to the shed and listened, but to my surprise it was a bunch of hawks in the trees, I guess either mating or making nests. But they were sure making a lot of noise.

Various other blooms, here are quince and teensy little daffs.

Marie, I saw hawks quite often here. But not making a rackets like so. I hope they won't hang around the garden too long. An occasional passing through is welcome. lol

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

If they eat the voles and moles, I will be happy, but not the fish in the pond...lol

(karen) Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Lily_love those look just like my tete a tete daffs - I love them - so tiny and yet so perfect!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Marie, we do have our "drathers" lol. If only ... Just like how I love seeing Bald Eagles, but when I saw them actively hunting and capture another bird... I almost faint. Since then, I don't "love" to see them as much any more. lol

kjuddy, I think you're right. Those gotta be Tete a Tete daffs. I love their tiny stature in the garden which make my garden looks bigger. lol

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

They have to eat too Lily-Love. It is all in Mother Nature.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I had a surprise yesterday when I noticed the Nelly Moser bloom opening. Today lots of buds opened.

Aww, bananna18, you've won the race!!! Lovely, lovely!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Wonderful, Anna!

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I think our heavy rain on Saturday gave me an advantage.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Wooohooo, I've one opened today; Nelly?

Congratulations! I love Nelly and have a few of her. She'll be 20 years old by the time she blooms but that's still two months away.

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

I wanted to inform everyone that the Clem,s that the tree men ripped from the trellis, are coming back strong. That is a Nelly and Josephine for ya.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

It is rewarding that after some fussing, they are hardier than imagined.
Looking forward to the bloom show from Alabama, Lilylove!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks y'all. Will add more as it happens. After Armandii, there are others coming along to keep the area beautified. ^_^

Wouldn't you know it, my Belle of Woking first bloom for the year!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Wow! She's so white for you! Up here she's a very pale lavender fading to white. Very nice!

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Snow white beauty!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

She also has a hint of green there. I love this double blooming clem. Now she needs to slow down to wait on Niobe whose buds are still small yet.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe it's because of the location where I have Niobe but I consider it the poorest grower of all my clem's. When it does well, it's fine but still not a huge lush plant as many others are. I do love the color!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Niobe is not a 'big' clem. for me either, Arlene. I've two one in a half whiskey barrel with BoW, the other climbing up a Crossvine in a deeper shade. Though, the one in the hwb shows more blooms each year. The size of the 2 vines twinning just about the same I think.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the post. I really thought it was the plant's genes at fault and I'm just glad I'm not the only one with a less than robust Niobe. I put it on an 8' trellis and it takes up 2 - 3' at best. Years later I added Falstaff, a rose that's supposed to get 6 - 8' but it remains at around 3'. Maybe the trellis is a jinx.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

3 feet tall is about right for my 2 Niobes. Its diminutive form is its trait seems like.
