It is still real red , warm and very sore. I think I will call the surgeon tomorrow and have him take a look at it.
Happy Valentine's Day and chat
Good idea. Sometimes it pays just to put your mind at rest.
glevely>>>>Please don't put those out yet. It's much too early. Is your last frost date approx. May 10 ish? Your too far north to not get any more winter yet. If you plant them you would take the chance of loosing them or atleast the tops being frozen off, causing stunting to the growth. Most plants need to be hardened off when they come out of the greenhouse, gradually tho. You might start by taking them outside in a shaded and protected area (wind and scorching sun), for a few hours a day. Increase outside time as it allows (the weather). and gradually more sun. Just make sure you take them back in at night til night time temps aren't in the freezing range and there's no more snow in your area. I am also z5, and the earliest I've planted is late April, seems like we always get some snow up til 2nd week of May, not always, but mostly. When I take my perennial seedlings out of the house this time of year they go into a sheltered area covered in plastic (back side of the garage has a horse stall which gets plasted in) AND cover them with a frost blanket til mid April. I harden them off and then they go to the driveway where I line them out until I'm able to get to planting. Hope that helps, I know cuz Iv'e learned. lol. Kathy, Good Luck.
pix: seedlings, sorry don't have a pix of stall area.
pix: newbies on the drive, sometimes if snow is forcasted I will cover with one of those frost blankets.
pix: more babies on the driveway
pix: babies on the front porch where it's more protected than the driveway
1. This is clematis 'Reiman' blooming 11/29/11, 25 days after the first killing frost of the season. I've had others blooming in the snow in December long before I had a digital camera.
2. The same clematis after a snow: 12/4/09 and the leaves are unharmed.
3. Snow on daffodils 3/24/11 - they were perfect after the snow melted.
Thanks pirl. I do too.
Going out side this afternoon in this great warm weather nad seeing what i can get done.
Happy Birthday to you too Marie. Hope you'll have a wonderful day.
Marie
Happy Birthday - hoping you are enjoying this beautiful weather during your recovery.
Ok , Doc said it was a stitch that was coming out, rather then dissolving. So she pulled it out ,, (Not Fun),, and said to keep taking the antibiotics.
I am good to go.
Thanks for all the Birthday wishes.
Marie
That's not bad news, Marie. I'm glad it wasn't more serious even if it caused an "Ouch". This means that today's birthday doesn't count!
Happy Birthday Marie, I hope you had an amazing day, despite the boo boo!!!! I wish you a speedy recovery, and many more happy gardening years. Annette
Thanks everyone, It is nice for you all to say that.
My husband ask me this evening, " why were you off today" I thought and decided, to say" they just gave me off". I guess he did not remember. Oh well, I bought me some nice gifts for my birthday.. A bunch of plants ( will arrive this weekend), 2 silver rings ( got bored being off from work), 2 set's of earring's,( also during boredom) from bidtz.com ,3 bead bracelets today at AC Moore, 2 handmade bead necklaces with matching earrings from a fund raising yard sale yesterday. So all in all I had a good B Day. Thanks for adding to my nice B Day.
Marie
Well Marie How did you have a birthday without me knowing. Happy happy day after your birthday.
Though it is early I have started planting out some seedlings this week. The rabbits continue to feast at my expense. I use my old seedling mix in part to pot up. To my surprise a couple of petunias came up. I have moved one out on top of a tree trunk along with a couple of other seedlings.
There is one of my large flowered clem seedlings that I planted there last year. It ias looking great.
Hope you all don't mind me going on like this.
John
All signs of spring are welcome, John.
The weather has been wonderful for gardening and yesterday I couldn't help but notice the big fat leaf buds on many (not all) clematises.
Here's a new thread for us to continue with clematis: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1246683/
