Olaf, do you plant more than one micro or mini in a pot? It looks like your plants are nice and full. I would love to put three or more micro-minis in one tiny pot, to save some room. Also the three mini I have, I would like to have them fuller in the pot. Can I take cuttings after they bloom and just stick the cutting in the same pot? I love these sinningia. They are so cute. I hope there is some in the RR box. I just bought another plant stand. Target had the 5 shelf stands on sale for $40. It's 36" wide. It's the same as my old stand. I don't have more room for anything wider. Right now I will have the new plant stand, my china buffet, and the old plant stand alone the one solid wall in my dining room. It's my favorite room because of the blooming plants.

Eileen, they will re-seed themselves and yes...you can have more than one in a pot :)

Forgot to add....Jamie, you are doing an excellent job with the Japanese method! Keep it goin' :) It does take a LLOOOOONNNGGG time but look how rewarding it is. GORGEOUS :::))))
Eileen, nice find on the plant stands. Hope you didn't mind me putting in my two cents on your question :)
Connie
Hey Eileen!
The only one of the micros that I normally put 2-3 tubers into one 1.5" pot is S. pusilla because it has a tendency to look a little "unkempt" and you can compensate for that by using more tubers.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that with all the other micros but they usually grow more symmetrically and pleasing looking (almost like a tiny, little Violet).
The "odd one out" is muscicola. They are upright growers and usually break with multiple crowns.
As for all micros: They are all not difficult to propagate by crown cuttings. It normally takes about 2, sometimes 3 months until you have a nice looking, blooming size plant.
I hope that helped!
Olaf
Oh, what I meant to ask you, Jamie and Connie:
What is the "Japanese method"?
Olaf
Jamie, do you still have a champagne pink? Please d-mail me if you do and let me know how much you want for one...PLEASE :)
Thanks!!
Connie
Thanks, Connie!
Olaf
Connie, are you still looking for Champagne Pink too? I still haven't found it!
Melanie
Yes, ma'am!!! I was wondering yesterday where you went and if you are okay. Glad to see you post :)
Connie
I did the japanese method with a Rob's Stickey Wicket, too . . . it did really well . . . I had it in a 10" pan container, going good until I decided I didn't have room for it anymore! lol
Wow! None of mine have reached that size yet. What did you do with it Nichole?
I broke it down into smaller crowns, got them rooted a bit, then sold them at the club sale. Didn't keep one for myself . . . doh!
Thank you Jamie! I'm really looking forward to getting this one!!
That is generous Nichole. I'd have trouble doing that after such a long investment of time.
Beautiful picture of C. 'Vista'. You ought to submit some of those gorgeous pictures to the AVSA or Gesneriad magazines or Gleanings.
13 week seedlings (from day sown) of Paliavana sericiflora 'Morro do Chapeu'. I'll have lots of varied, rare gessie seedlings to share in the RR.
Thanks, Jamie! Maybe if I weren't so shy... Seriously! LOL
Olaf
Well there ya go!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you, Melanie :)
Awe, Nichole...did ya take a pic??? I know it had to be gorgeous :) Wasn't sure how many continued with the project. It does take a long time.
Connie
Ohh, I'd like a leaf of Sunrise Waltz in the RR (hint, hint). I love variegated trailers. I hope we'll hear back about how Kentucky Rambler is doing.
Thanks, Jamie! I'll make sure, you'll find "something" in the RR... ;)
Olaf
I'll have to dig, Connie . . . I'm pretty sure I did. I'll post one once I find it. I just don't have the space in the apartment for anything but the one set of plant shelves, so had to cut back on the space-taker-uppers . . . Once we move into a house again, though, I will have more space.
OUCH!! Well, hopefully you won't be there long and when you do find a house get with me. I am sure I have will have a few things for you to help fill up some empty space :)
Connie
It has been some time since we've traded, hasn't it . . . looking forward to it! ^_^
Cool!! In the mean time, get that pic dug out, Girl hehe :)
Connie
They are all beauties, but I love the orange one!
That's a cute, little 6-petaled flower on a micro hybrid with obvious 'Wood Nymph' parentage. Occasional 6-petaled flowers aren't unusual on Gesneriads of many kinds.
You can't grow the cultivar 'Wood Nymph' from seed. What your friend did was either grow a selfing or a cross with another micro.
