CLOSED: Please help me identify this spider (possible huntsman)?

Pakenham, Australia

Hey guys,

I do have a mild interest in spiders, and i used to visit another forum which allowed me to post photos of spiders and have other users help identify them - after being away from that forum for a little while, i returned to see it had been removed... which led me to discover Dave's Garden.

I have been collecting quite a few images over the last year or so, and would really appreciate any help in identifying some of these species from around my area.

I live in Pakenham, Victoria, Australia (South East Suburbs of Melbourne).

This is one i think is a huntsman - but looks a little different from other huntsman we normally find - the abdomen seems rounder than usual.

Thanks a lot guys, i'll post a couple each day, so as not to flood the forum.

Cheers.

This is a huntsman, possibly Isopeda (formerly Holconia) vasta -

Body shape in these spiders usually is more dependent on sex or physiologic status (well-fed, gravid, etc.) than being a reliable species identifier.

Thats great, thanks a lot Flapdoodle.

I just realized that I inadvertently transposed names on this one - it should be Holconia (formerly Isopeda) vasta; apologies for the blunder...

I hadn't even notice.

Cheers.
