Good morning, it's nice to be here! I found this large spider (for Greece!) on my table. It was about 1 inch long, with a black spot on its back, as it might be seen in the photo. What is it? Is this species dangerous? I did not kill it, I just pushed it away with a piece of paper! Thank you!
Large greek countryside spider
At first glance this appeared to be an orb weaver (Araneidae), but after more study, I think that it might be a huntsman spider (Sparassidae). Both are harmless.
