CLOSED: HI all, I have some medium sized brown spiders in my house!

Merritt Island, FL

Hi everyone, I'm new here and would just like to know what the name of this spider is and also, if it can be harmful to either pets, such as cats, or humans. I have seen quite a few of them in different parts of the house within the last few months.

Thank You

I believe this one is a Wolf Spider and harmless to people and pets. The Wolfs hunt other spiders and are quite beneficial.

The bite of this spider can be painful but I've never actually met anyone who has been bitten by one. They would rather run than be the aggressors.

About a year ago I was bitten by one in bed while sleeping. Didn't feel it which was good, but had extreme itching from the bite for about 3 days. How did I know it was from one of these spiders??? Well, I found one of its legs on my sheets, lol.

It looks more like a huntsman spider (Sparassidae) than a wolf spider (Lycosidae); both can give a painful bite but are not dangerous.

Thanks all for your speedy responses!
