Found this fellow in hiding in a hallway crack in our house in London.

Husband thinks its a red back or black widow - but surely not in these parts!!!!

It belongs to the same family (Theridiidae) as widow spiders, but it is in the genus Steatoda - http://www.essexfieldclub.org.uk/portal/p/False%20widow%20spider%20Steatoda%20nobilis
