CLOSED: Horrified by this spider... Help!

Perth, Australia

HELP! (Please!)

I am terrified of spiders and need to know what this is. Is it venomous? Does it jump? Is it aggressive? It is righht outside my kitchen window where the fly screen on the window has holes in it. It's hot and I can't open the window because I am scared of the spider entering.

It hides during the day and my cat often plays in the bush it hides in. A bit worried.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's an orbweaver of some type.
I've never found an orbweaver in my house, and i have Furrow Orbweavers practically covering the side of my house.
They don't jump.
All spiders are venomous to some extent, but this spider is considered *harmless*.
I don't think I've ever run into an "aggressive" spider.
You shouldn't have to worry about it entering your house, even if you open the window.
They are generally pretty adamant about sticking to their webs.
In fact, it would probably help keep your flies out!

This is a tropical orbweaver (Eriophora sp.), maybe Eriophora transmarina. This is a highly variable species, if you Google images for that name, you will see many different examples. And as LadyAshleyR indicated, all orb weavers are harmless.

Hi LadyAshleyR and Flapdoodle,

Thanks for your help. As terrified as I am of spiders, I do not like killing them unless they are dangerous.

He is free to stay :)
