Hello, Alas, I don't have a picture (although I can probably round one up in the next few days). But I have a mystery spider I was hoping to get your collective thoughts about.
I live in Los Angeles, and there are quite a variety of spiders in and near my house. I have a large amount of both brown and black widows (mostly in my garage), also of note, I caught a yellow sac spider in a glass the other day, and then it laid quite a number of eggs, which also hatched (leaving me with a glass full of poisonous spiders...) as well as all manner of other more benign critters. There is one spider I see fairly regularly however, and I cannot find pictures of anything like it.
They are usually brown or black (first sign of trouble), and usually have yellow'ish markings on their back. Smaller / juvenile ones will have just 2 or three tiny straight lines, and ostensibly no markings on their belly side. The larger adult ones will often have more jumbled yellow lines, again on their back only. The yellow lines on the larger ones are sort of reminiscent of japenese script / writing, with intersecting yellow lines. Please let me know if this rings any bells, I'll work on coming up with a picture in the meantime.
Thanks for your time!
