It's that time of year when many of us who cook go into overdrive and some less-inclined cooks are trying their hand at making special dishes for family or friends. For many of us, we are looking for ways to celebrate and preserve our heritage and traditions while we create new memories for our loved ones - and a lot of what we do is wrapped up in the warm blanket of delicious food.
Tonight for us is fairly simple: pan-grilled pork chops with garlic-lime sauce, and some reheated potatoes au gratin. Later in the week, I'll make a ginormous pan of lasagna and a huge pot of chili so our at-home children won't starve while we leave them to fend for themselves for a few days. (I suspect they could live off leftovers for as long as the leftovers hold out.)
I'll finish up my holiday baking (hopefully today) with a red velvet roulade and peppernuts.
So what's cooking at your place?
