I realized this morning that this was not the same hummer that was visiting my feeders before I left town. This one was a male and the spots on the throat were a rosy purple color. Wasn't able to get a shot showing the throat color but did get one showing rufous in the tail. I'm leaning toward Broad-tailed Hummingbird. What do you think?

Only flight photo that I've gotten and it's really cloudy now, so unlikely that I'll get a better shot.
I'd agree with Broad-tailed, but get more pics if you can - one with the tail fully spread would be best.
It's a bird other Texas birders might want a chance to see, if it hangs around.

Haven't seen the bird at all today and am quite depressed about it. I'm sure it's my fault for missing my watering day so the plants aren't producing nectar, and I messed up making the nectar for the feeders too. Several hawks are staking out the yard too. Guess it was probably a good idea for that hummer to move on! Hope it finds a good spot.
