Found Spider - Can it eat meat?

Montreal, Canada

Hey There,

Yesterday I found a small black spider in the kitchen sink. It has 8 legs and a white hourglass on its back and some other white shape on the bottom half of body. I emailed our cities Montréal Insectarium to find out if it is poisonous, but still haven’t received a reply. If it’s safe I will let it go, but in the meantime I’m not sure if it’s hungry, I will assume that if not yet, it will be.

I know I need to get it certain types of bugs (no ants) from the pet shop but am unable to get away at the moment. Will raw meat work for now, or if someone has any other suggestions, they would be much appreciated. Also what happens to them when it gets cold outside.

Thanks

Parson spider, harmless - http://www.cirrusimage.com/spider_eastern_parson.htm

Doubt if it will eat anything but live insects.

Thanks Flapdoodle and for the picture too, good to know it's harmless. Now out it goes to live its life as it was meant to...well maybe. Think I'll amend the sentence to 'to live its life as it was meant to' through these changin times.'

Take care..

It may be harmless, but I would have died if it was in my kitchen. What a brave soul you are.
