Tree ID help

Hi there

We need assistance identifying the tree in our front yard. I've attached some pics, tried to get some of the trunk/bark but they didn't come out too well because of the sun. The bark almost reminds me of a crepe myrtle, a lot of peeling and the color is a deep brown/red underneath.

The reason for the question is because it's shedding its leaves/seed pods en masse right now, but the leaves haven't even turned color. Not sure if it will be deciduous or not. The tree is in Tampa, and is about 40 ft tall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's an elm of some sort, likely Ulmus parvifolia - Lacebark Elm.

Its genetic diversity includes evergreen as well as deciduous forms, depending on provenance. I'd expect that you might have an evergreen form there. This species matures and sheds its seeds in the fall.
