Robert Redford & the Skunk

So last night they were filming 2 buildings away from my house the new Robert Redford movie, "The Company You Keep". There's large cables running through my yard and they were very respectful to avoid ruining the garden. Last night while leaning against a granite garden wall watching the filming take place, I felt a strong nudge and push behind me legs. At first I thought, "why is this cat out here", only to realize a very large skunk was pushing it's way behind me and then the crowd of onlookers. "Skunk!", I exclaimed, although in retrospect I should have said, "Skunk! on set". A ways into the crowd of onlookers Madame Skunk went only to realize the bright lights and people aren't her thing and she reversed out of the standing room only.

It's the second late night filming at the old apartment building on the corner. Previously was a scene for Supernatural. Robert Redford was in a thick black ski jacket and the main character, Shia LaBeouf was briskly moving around the set, much to the delight of several young ladies. Entertaining and my garden was saved from cable drops and tramplings.

Wonder what would of happened if the skunk had made it onto the set and introduced itself to Mr. Redford?

Well, it would have been more chaotic if the skunk decided to walk right into the middle of the crowd of photographers, camera men, NYPD officers, bell hops, NY cabs, etc that was about to be shot for the movie. They were filming Shia LaBeouf exiting the apartment building with media and had just finished a second rehearsal for the main shoot. Robert Redford was in a black tent to one side.

I think it's to bad that the skunk did not walk into the middle of that mess. but than again your garden might have suffered from the panic.

My garden was far enough away behind the apartment building and I guess they place the generators a bit of distance away so the diesel noise doesn't interfere with shooting. I kept mentioning the skunk to the electrical crew - to watch out for her and then she finds me. What I liked the most that evening was that they had set up lights on the trees quite some distance from the shooting for the background and the trees were aglow with their fall colours with the light shining on them.
