Revisiting our gardens of 2011

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

One of the 'Bob Log' gardens with my homemade trellis, which will have to be replaced this year, as it's all coming apart.

Karen I am definitely using your basket idea this year

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Love the pics of your garden, Karen. I agree about the baskets. I have to get a million bells this year.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Rosemary and Jen. Line the baskets with plastic that has several holes poked in the bottom. I made the mistake of not doing that this past year, and they did not hold water well. With all the heat we had and little rain, I was watering a ton.

Bring on Spring! Loved the achillea, Karen.....

Thanks Marilyn. Spring can't come soon enough. Here are a few more pics to brighten everyone's day.

Stealing the basket idea too!

LOL! Thanks Ronnie! The baskets really do look nice. I get mine at Savers or yard sales.

Thnaks Bill. Sure can't wait for spring. I have to check this weekend and see if my witch hazels have started to bloom yet. I'm thinking with all the unseasonably warm weather that they may have started early. This weekend is gonna be a cold one, though.

I'm waiting to see what some of my daylilies do this year. They say the 3rd year in your garden is the best, well last summer was year 2.

Wow....I just love your DLs, Pixie.....I had to remove my Mary's Baby because of road construction....then it sat in a wheelbarrow full of water for like 6 weeks.....I'm just hoping it survived!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Very nice, Celeste! You're gonna be seeing some great clumps this year. Can't wait to see you pics of them!

Me too, going with the "basket" idea, Karen. I have a bunch of them in the basement doing NOTHING!! Pretty Daylilies, Pixie. I bought a bunch last year that were very tiny so I don't expect much from them. I do have some for a few years now that I bought from Maryott.

I had one area where I combined perennials with lilies. Big mistake, last year the lilies crowded everything else out. I tried moving as many as the bulbs as I could to an area where we had dumped top soil on the lawn. After we picked up as much as we could of the topsoil, the remainder became their new home.

They were pretty, but after they were gone, nothing else was showing up here so I yanked them out and moved all my seedlings into the area.

One of my favorites

I keep telling myself that I won't plant any more bulbs that need to be dug up, but I can't resist Dahlias and Callas, especially.

I have several garden areas. They all started out with a plan, but now they all look kind of "jungely" (like jungles) because I keep growing more plants and then stuffing them in wherever there's room

My favorite is the rose garden, where this Bella Roma Rose lives

It's not "jungley" it's cottagey!!!!!!!!!!!

Your gardens are beautiful! How can you grow such lovely lilies? Do you spray for the red lily beetle? If so, what do you use? Nothing works here....

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

I don't do anything to the lilies except give them a shot of bone meal twice a year.

I don't think the lily beetle has spread to PA, lucky people.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Lovely gardens! No lily beetle? I may have to move.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

What the heck are lily beetles and how close are they to getting here???!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Your so lucky you don't even know what they are,(envious) sure you want to?
