'I know nothing about computers'

Birmingham, United Kingdom

I discovered 'DG' in September 2000, and started to learn about computers at about the same time.I was a slow learner........it was 12 months before I 'discovered' the 'refresh' button, and realised that the little house icon meant 'home page'.Slow or what?

My hubby will long regret the day we got a new computer and modem and he said "Honey, there is nothing you can mess up that I cannot fix". LOL That was about six years ago and he has barely been able to visit the computer since then. :)

There's masses and masses to learn about computers Marigold. You can use the Internet. And I expect you do some word processing, maybe email too.
There's plenty of help here on the Web if you want to learn. And there's bound to be some simple courses near you.
I'm trying to work out some maths problems tonight - I give up! Hope my lecturer will demonstrate how to do them in class tomorrow.
Maybe there's some things you're better off not knowing about!!!

I'm still trying to figure out hyper links and how to make a list.I see people listing things and when I try it its all clumped together!!! So don't feel bad,I've been "playing" with the computer for 4 years and still can't figure things out!

Same here. Have a DD who helps me out but there is still so many things that I don't know how to do. I feel if I make it to Dave's Garden,I'm satisfied, for now anyway.

Badseed, I'm like you. DH dragged me to Sears, kicking and screaming "No,I DO NOt want to buy a computer! (DH: We'll just LOOK at them"). Came out with a contract in hand! We knew NO ONE in our immediate circle who had computers. Before the month was out I knew the names off all the techs at Sears, and our server! Nice people too. Now DH seldom gets to have a turn! Jo

Marigold,
Don't feel bad, I just figured out how to build my own homepage recently! Every time that one of my sons would come home from college, I'd drag them to the computer and say: "Show me how to do this...show me how to do that..."
Now, as soon as they get here, they'll ask "How are you doing on the computer, Mom? 'Need help with anything?"
My youngest was impressed with my "gardening homepage".
He laughed and said: "What took you so long, Mom?"
Kids. ;-)
