I found this on a hosta leaf while getting the garden ready for winter. I poked at his leaf and under it but he barely moved his legs. He is about the size of nickle and 1/2 inch high. He also seemed to tuck his head under his abdomen. Admittedly, I know very little about spiders and keep away from them as much as possible, but, this one is a mystery. Can anyone tell me what type it is, if it has a bad bite, and should it be kept in the garden or ....?
thanks from Toronto, Ontario
CLOSED: What is it? Big, fat and slow/gentle but scary!
A sleepy Orbweaver. They are night spiders, so are sluggish during the day.
And not harmful to humans.
Thank you!
