Celandine seeds question

I read somewhere that the seeds of celandine poppy must be collected when fresh. And planted... I think. Does this mean that if they do not germinate within some weeks after they were collected and planted that they should be given up for lost?

Hi Las,

I suppose you mean Stylophorum diphyllum as you speak about the celandine poppy.

These seeds only germinate after a cold period and the best germination temperature is about 5°C / 41°F. Germination is very erratic, can take up several months, so don't give up.

Sorry, Jonna, none left. But if I have a lot next year I'll try to remember to check out your site. You and I traded campanula medium and yellow portulaca one year. But you got white ones out of my yellow seeds. :-(

Wild plants sometimes cross, I don't mind.
Hope you'll remember me when you harvest seeds of the Stylophorum diphyllum nest year.
