Nice shots Wild Rose and congratulations on the new camera, Yes, bluebirds do eat berries--in fact, they survive on them in the winter months when insects are not to be found. Here is a female about to swallow a holly berry. Sorry but each time she reached for a berry her head moved out of focus

And of course, they love things like crab apples and ornamental pears. This was on our Bradford Pear last year before the starlings and the waxwings stripped it.

Excellent shots everyone!!!

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

Lovely photos, folks! The female bluebird/holly looks like a holiday card shot to me. Loved the pine siskins too - what's with the upside down guy??

My yard birds seem to be only feeding morning and evening right now, as there's probably lots of other food around.

Here's one from earlier this year of my resident cardinal daddy teaching his youngster to feed at the feeder. The pair had two broods this spring.

Scanning through the cardinal shots from that day, here's one of the whole family - two on the feeder and 3 more in the bamboo above and to the left of the feeders. Wish I'd zoomed in more, but with all the movement . . . well there you are!

We do have hawks around all the time, so I think they love the cover the bamboo provides. No room for a big bird in there!

Abosolutely. I'm with you there Dyzzypyxxy. Dave brought us the best of birding, as many others here on the forum. Your pix of resident cardinal daddy teaching his youngster is very sweet as well. Awwww, one happy family you've got there under those lovely bamboo grove.

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

On a job assignment in Yuma, Az and I captured this Greater Roadrunner. Traveling for the job has some perks as it take me to places I probably would never have visited and allows me to photograph birds I don't see in my neck of the woods. While there I also saw 2 Burrowing Owls and got a decent picture of the Wilson's Warbler (male). I didn't have my big gear with me on this trip though.

Great start to the thread, Dave. I'm enjoying everyone's shots - too many to comment on individually. Good to see you back posting Al and Gary.
