My Wife & Kids - tv show upset me

southeast, NE

Did any of you watch this show last night? I have watched this show in the past and thought it was funny. Last night I was thoroughly disgusted with this show. In summary, the wife came home from being with her mother for six weeks and she had gained some weight. The husband was "turned off" by her and really made an issue of people being fat. I always feel sorry for those people (children in particular) who are teased because of their weight. I feel this show exhibited extreme insensitivity and adds to the mentality of those who make fun of overweight individuals. Okay no I'm done ranting.

Missed that one NJ,never heard of it,what channel?

didn't see it jewel, I have also never heard of it..just one more reason we hardly have the tv on anymore..

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

We usually watch and enjoy the show, but after seeing the previews I chose to put something else on.

Never seen or heard of the show. But then I don't watch much tv cause I'm busy here in the garden. To let your feelings be known, you need to let the producer of the show know and the network. I have done that before. Granted it may not do much good but it lets them know that you won't be watching certain types of shows that is being shown. I watch Touched By An Angel, which is now on Saturday evenings.Sometimes I forget about it,cause it used to be on Sunday evenings.
Any other 'Touched By An Angel' fans out there?

I just checked the ABC.Com website and there are message boards for each show. I did voice my very strong opinion about this show and the sentiments listed on that message board are in very strong agreement with me. I also plan on writing ABC and the local ABC stations that I plan to never watch this show again.

Yes I like Touched by Angel and also forget that show is now on Saturday nights.

Jewel, I saw the previews for the show, and heard some flack about it before it aired. I've never watched the series, and didn't realize it was going to be on last night. I found the general idea distasteful, so I wouldn't have watched it regardless. It's sad what passes for entertainment these days.

While I'm on my soapbox, I have real heartburn with the networks put on during "family viewing" hours (I define as 7-9 pm) I know I can switch the channel, but with the choices, the only real switch is "off". That's a shame because some times it would be nice to sit down as a family and enjoy a show together. But with the garbage that's out there, we turn the TV off after the evening news, or I let the kids watch the silly stuff on Nickelodeon.

I personally think the networks should take some initiative to air shows with wholesome, family-oriented themes during the hours that kids are likely to be viewing. Okay, I'm climbing down off the soapbox :)

I agree with you vols, we too turn it off and let the kids watch nick or tv land - my children have discovered shows like I love Lucy, the facts of life, different strokes, older shows that were in better taste. My 13 yr old son absolutely loves I love lucy, Isnt that funny?

That's great Pebble, nothing to worry about with those shows, either' They're having a I Love Lucy Marathon, all this week too,on tv land' Nick and TV Land are great channels, watch them alot' Never get tired of all the Lucy reruns, lol'

I started to watch it, saw where it was going and turned it off. Makes me ashamed of being a human being when I see people do things like that. :>(
