New Spider in my yard...Can you identify?

Marietta, GA

Noticed a fairly large web suspended between the corner of my house and a tree that sits about 3-4ft away from the house. Took some closeup shots in hopes someone can recognize the species.

It's bright because of the flash. Back looks brown/tan, and legs have sections of brown or black and then yellow alternating. Like a the leg is yellow, then the leg is brown/black etc.

Underbelly has an obvious design and I hope it shows up in the picture. It is about the size of a quarter.

Thanks in advance

this is officially orb weaver month.

genus Araneus ... treat it kindly, toss a little bug into the web to show the kids how brilliant and beneficial spiders are

poisonous? i literally walked face first into this big ass web, not fun. next day it was back up and he was sitting dead center...probably waiting for a bug just as dumb as me.

I agree, it's Orb Weaver Month. Scroll down and you'll see tons.

Most all spiders are venomous but these are not amongst the bad ones. As far as I know, in the USA, only the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse are dangerous. Yes, they can startle you, at first, but watch them awhile and you'll have a better appreciation for them.

Orb weavers don't seem to care where they build their webs. I had one build its web between my house and my neighbors house, which is at least 5 to 6 feet. I don't know how they do that. I feel sorry for the lawn guys cause they have to walk right through its web to cut the grass. Another thing I have noticed is that they are always changing the location of their webs in my yard. I have to be careful I don't walk into any because I never know where they build their new webs each day.

I am going to start taking a stick whith me when I walk through the yard. Wave it around and hope I dont walk into any webs.
