This spider has been found outside my back door on its web. It looks to be about the size of a silver dollar and maybe a little furry. Any help iding it would be great so I know whether or not to be concerned for my children or pets.
Thanks!
Edit: It was found in Northern Illinois USA if that is helpful.

What is this Spider?
totally harmless, beneficial, beautiful, educational
Do you happen to know what species it is because it looks like a variety of Orb Weaver but I'm not that confident in my taxonomic abilities.
no, i don't,... there are many, and many variations.
way beyond me, kwanjin seems to know this stuff pretty deep

i'm new here, and haven't got names straight, yet
No worries. I haven't seen any evidence of ego present here. Too many good folks.
