all spiders are venomous, but relatively few are dangerous to humans

in northern cal., you've only the black widow and brown recluse (probably rare up there)
they are both classic, easy to recognize spiders
their bites are serious, and need medical attention, but usually not life
threatening to healthy humans.
it is possible for small children, olds, and people who may be allergic to them
to be in deep trouble

everything else would give you a tiny red bump, if anything,
if they were even able to bite you, . . . no worries

that is an Orb Weaver, genus Araneus, ... a friend, and good neighbor

It's called a velvet ant but in truth it is not an ant, but a walking wasp and DON'T let it bite you or your pets!

Ocean Springs, MS

That wasp give me chills just to look at it! I am sooooo allergic to them!

Here in coastal Mississippi, we have more spiders than I could count! Kill black widows, brown widows, and brown recluse. Leave the others alone; they don't bother me! I especially love watching weave their webs! Beautiful and so unique!
