CLOSED: What kind of spider is in the house?
How big is it? I thought it might be some sort of wolf spider, but not sure.
I think it was about an inch long.
Possibly a male Orb Weaver.
Hmmm...the pictures I'm seeing online of Orb Weavers shows a more rounded shape than this one (maybe there are more types than I saw). This one was pretty flat.
The female is the one seen most often and most photographed. The male will be different and smaller.
I'd say a jumping spider, perhaps the Flat Jumper (Platycryptus undatus).

Most of the orb weavers have those spotted legs.
Thanks, everyone, for your input. It really does look like that Jumping Spider. In any case, it doesn't appear to be a dangerous species and that's a relief. Thanks again!
