I wish I could say with any certainy that these are Huntsman spiders or Giant Crab spiders. But I'm just not sure. I don't know spiders in your part of the world well enough.

I now there are several spiders whose venom is dangerous or including the Baboon spider, Sac Spider and Black Widow but I don't know of others.

Someone else will have to help you there.

Thank you so much for responding Kwanjin, we are very grateful and my son who has Asperger's Syndrome is very happy with your comment... thank you. He scared me half to death becasue he had no fear and took the photo's so close to the spider that it could have jumped on him at any time... haahaa!!! The spider was as big as the palm of his hand, if not bigger... and he's a big boy!!!

Oh that sounds exciting Kwanjin, I think that the courage my son showed to take such lovely pictures so close up, he deserves some recognition for them. Flapdoodle has given me an e-mail address to have this spider identified by some place here in South Africa, so I'm going to give them a shot and will let you know if what they say is the same as both of you have identified it to be... so will send the pictures off tonight and let you know asap... :-)
