** Please Help I.D. These 3 Spiders....

harare, Zimbabwe

Hello,

(see attached pic)

Found spiders #1 and #2 in garden (nearly walked into them), and found #3 in my bedroom (size of my hand)!!

Please could you let me know what kind of spiders these are, and are they poisonous. If so any tips on keeping them out of my home. I am located in Zimbabwe (harare).

Thanks!

#1 is a Golden Orb Weaver, a good spider. It's called that because of the golden web it makes.

#2 is a Rain Spider and also harmless.

#3 looks like a Grass Spider.

Minot, ND

Numbers 2 and 3 are both huntsmen spiders (aka giant crab spiders) in the family Sparassidae. Only those in the genus Palystes are called rain spiders - http://www.biodiversityexplorer.org/arachnids/spiders/sparassidae/

Which is why Latin names are so important. Thanks for the correction.
