We came from here.... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1217794/
Here in Indiana September is Migration Month!! We have more birds in the area right now than any other other month of the year!! So I hope to be able to get out and look for new birds the next few weeks.
Some more Gray Catbirds are around right now.......but not many!
Daily Bird Pics - Vol. 414
Nice snaps nanny. Love the waxwings, haven't seen any around here in a long time.
Hack
Love the Waxwings nanny!
Thanks for starting the new thread!
Nice selection to start with Nanny! Any idea what that warbler is? I'd guess blue-winged but I don't know why I think that! I love the waxwings too. I hope they don't come here this winter though. I hope the birds can see that Texas is all brown and will go somewhere else.
This was a suprise yesterday. Went outside with an ice-cream sandwich and couldn't believe it when I looked up and saw this Great Crested Flycatcher.
At one point this wren landed on the same stalk as the flycatcher and started hopping up toward him. I wasn't fast enough to get the shot though. Then he did the same thing with the tanager. I was having camera battery problems that time though. Either he's the welcoming committee or he doesn't like newcomers or he's very curious or he doesn't like it when I photograph other birds. Probably, it's just coincidence!
Thank you Nan, for the nice start of a new thread. Love those Waxwings juvie and adult alike. Beautiful birds from your region Duc, especially like the Ca. Quail. Hello Burd, what's a nice shot of the RT Hawk. Welcome back Hackster, hope to see some migratory birds from Ga. soon.
Here is my migratory friend. I haven't seen one since winter/early spring.
Beautiful pics Duc. Can't imagine having quail in the birdbath! That's so awesome! My mom has turkeys in her birdbath much to her dismay.
Burd, gorgeous pic of that hawk!
Lily, glad your friend is back!
Wonderful shots duc! Love the Herons!
Me too, me too. Love those shots Duc.
Nice shots Countrymom, Lily and Burd!
Pelletory asked me to repost my pic in the new thread, so here she is, I am getting better at taking the pics of hummers, I wish I could have taken a picture of her buzzing around me this morning, but she was not standing still! She was here and then she was there and then she was everywhere, so I just waited until she perched on the feeder, I was on the other side of the lattice and that is what the shadow is, I was surprised that I got her, she was bobbing up and down while she was drinking.
Love those heron shots duc!
Fun for you & great for us.
Lots of great pics-- as usual. I haven't been taking any bird pics. Been on the road and leaving again in a few minutes. I'll be on the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve tomorrow for an ecology workshop, maybe some birds will appear. Keep posting those pics, folks. We lurkers are out here.
Great shots ! Love that little baby cardinal !
Lily_love - The woodpeckers will do that ? Just doze off hanging off the side of a tree ? Great series of photos.
Countrymom, I hung my feeder just outside my kitchen window. There I get to watch my birds in close proximity and witnessed lots of their antics. Just like your finch seems to 'looking' at the world goes by. I noticed many younguns seems to be nodding off occassionally at the feeding station. Here is the mama woodpecker at feeding time. This year I was fortunate a family of these woodpeckers, both the Ma and the Pa took turn to bring their fledglings here to teach them to go after the seeds/nuts.
Lily_love - Amazing ! So, my little swinger is a finch ? All those little brown birds look the same to me !
I thought it was a Housefinch, I could be wrong though. I'm learning about different birds myself.
Finches have thick bills. Look at the cardinal for example.
irisMA - So is my swinger a housefinch ?
Lily_love - How long have you been birding ? All those little brown birds look the same to me - lol !
