This does not fill me with confidence.

Money Matters - Part 8
It's truly mind boggling how global the crisis is, and how everything is affected, - and will be.
Yes it is, and scary. Reinforces what we learned three years ago - that so much of what we take for granted is based on nothing but psychology and confidence. Challenge it and fear turns to panic. Panic brings down the whole system. What is even more worrisome is the looming crisis in China, mwhich nomone wants to even think about.
I'm all cool with what ever happens......"Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal"
Thanks, Victor
Glad you are enjoying the volunteering, etc. Chuck.
Amen, Jen!
Don't store up treasures here on earth where ex-wives can take them away.
lol!!

Friend from high school was celebrating on fb her divorce and I thought how sad that the commitment you made for life didn't last...don't know if I'd be celebrating that...I mean if the guy was abusive yeah I'm all for leaving the guy, but it's still sad if the guy didn't keep his commitment...do you know what I mean?
could me the gal too.
Yeah I don't think it's something to yell about.
Sounds as if she may be a little confused...
When I think about what my life would be like if I lived alone, I know where my strength, wisdom and what I am today comes from, her name is Marilyn
Chuck
Yes, I agree Bill could be the girl too..but still sad, no?
yes - although i don't judge and no one knows what goes on behind closed doors as it takes two usually.
Surprise, surprise. Not.

Kraft Mayonnaise jar $4.89
4.89? 4.89?
Store motto posted above display, Low Prices Every Day- really?
PS the jar is only 30 oz now.
Hope it had mayo in it!
I'd hope it had silver or gold in it ~ LOL
Went to an estate sale run by someone I don't know. (I know all the people who normally run the local sales.) I was at a table of jewelry chatting with the watcher and the other shoppers and the person running the sale came and spoke very rudely to the watcher . After she left the room, I remarked how rude the woman had been. Then I picked up a necklace marked $15, looked at it with my loupe and said "I'll take it". At this sale you paid at the front door and then went back to pick up your purchase. As I took the bag with the necklace from the watcher, I told her that I wanted her to look at something. I pulled out my loupe and handed her the necklace and told her to look at the edge of the clasp. See the 14? This necklace is coral and 14kt gold. The dealer doesn't know everything!
I think there is at least $100 worth of gold in the necklace in addition to the large coral beads. I know that it is impossible to be an expert in everything, but at least you can be kind to your help.
$4.89 for mayo.. that's a lot! - guess I'll be having my sandwiches w/o mayo! lol!!
Great find, Cat!
Excellent, YankeeCat
Cat - do you find out about estate sales online? Newspaper? Signs?
Usually signs.
The appraiser who did my appraisal of moms house and stuff knew nothing about anything special. The jewelry box went to a jeweler for appraisal, the china was listed at yard sale prices even though some teacups are royal doulton or bone china, etc
But for all I know that stuff goes for yard sale prices these days. Who knows anymore? eBay has taken away some of the element of rarity.
You are right in that the market is way down on collectibles. And eBay is effecting prices by making "rare" not so rare anymore. In this area we have houses built in the 17th century that I never would have been able to see inside of if it weren't for Tag and Estate Sales. I try and not buy random stuff - sometimes that works - but I will buy jewelry if I think there is enough precious metal to make a profit some time in the future. Also, I love beads - so I buy beads - they are usually not a whole lot of money, don't take too much room to store and make me feel filthy rich when I look at all of them.
"The president on Monday will announce a proposal that includes the new taxes"...everyone get ready to bend over!!!!
LOL!!! Jen!
I LOVE the blue ones!
I got them. They are not cheap. I was smileing when the auctioneeer said = you
Oh well now its ebay time.
That's great, schickenlady! Good luck selling them.
Nice haul, AYC. I love to go into old houses.
Found a jeweler in Philly that buys gold and silver. He doesn't advertise that though, but by word of mouth. It's in jewelers' row and there are plenty that do advertise and obviously get some shady characters. He buzzes you in the door. It's a very small place. I was very impressed and he gives you 80%. A local guy was going to give 62%. Needless to say, I went with the guy in Philly and walked out with $2050. We ordered a riding mower, plus a sewing machine.
Wah ho ooo jan!
That's great Jan, we were looking to sell some gold
Sherrie, Glad you won them!
Remember I said I took advantage of the summer market drops and bought some Apple. Just sold it - hit an all-time high this AM. Made a nice little sum. Weeeeeeeeeee!!! ^_^
nice
Kudos!
Thanks!
Woohoo!!!
