How Do Morning Glory Blossoms Vary for One Plant?

(Doug) Murfreesboro, TN

Here is a picture of an early blossom of Monet. The seed was described as a mixture. It started blooming in late July for me.

By the end of August this unusual flower had appeared on the vine. It was very different from the first flower. But I liked it.

Later in August this form appeared. It was not as perfect as the last one, but still, it was quite different. The plant had my attention now. I was watching it morning after morning with my camera ready. If you don't appreciate a morning glory just at dawn, the opportunity is lost forever.

And then in early September, this form showed up. It is completely different. The radial bars are gone and it is mostly a solid color. What is this plant telling me? Does anyone know? I have other examples of this kind of variation within one plant. Is it typical?

Doug, I don;t know as much as some of the others about this subject but no Monet is perhaps the most unstable
cultivar Ive ever seen. Thus all your wonderful but different blooms. Looks like its been a fun vine to grow.
I grew out 2 sds from my True fuji no Monet blooms from last yr but neither one produced the true no Monet. :-(

Someone had to tell me last yr that they thought I had the true no Monet. I was
unfamiliar with it and last yr was my 1st yr to grow it
I think your vine is a winner. Never have I seen so many diff blooms on one vine, very special vine you have there.

It's almost like the advertising :two products in one but here it's four or five !... and I'm sure it's ''Because you're worth it?'' lol
Have you put the tags at different stages?

I have only one cultivar that changes in his life.
In the spring he gave flowers like this:

patootie,
Wow, I I have seen the flower you are showing us on my vine. See the picture. It is my favorite of what this plant has produced and it is rare among the variations I have seen. I would like to grow a plant that has nothing but this blossom.

Debra, Its good to hear from you.

Dany, I like your pictures. Tell me more.

Doug, that is so pretty almost like stained glass. I have not seen that bloom in my yard, or I would have tagged it for sure. Very Special there..

Doug ... we need seeds to experience at home!
I had two cultivars Fuji No Monet type, one who has always had the same flower all year long that looks like yours in the period: end of August.
