This spider made its appearance early this morning next to my porch rail. When I took pictures of it I kept thinking it was going to jump on me! It's about 1 1/2 inches wide, black to brown on its legs with yellow markings on its back. I looked on BugFiles and I'm thinking it might be an orb weaver spider, but it seems to have a rather thin head. Thanks :)
A Black and Yellow Argiope, Argiope aurantia, and I have never heard of them jumping on people. You are lucky to have this spider.
