CLOSED: Spider Concerns

Aurora, CO(Zone 5b)

My house is becoming over-run with these spiders. I hate sprays, and in general hate killing living things, but have concerns about my children and pets. I think that it is a wolf spider, my wife killed this one and I snapped a photo for id. Any useful tips on keeping them out? Any dangers? Thanks everyone!

The Wolf, Funnel-web and Grass spiders, which this one resembles, are all non-harmful to humans. I'm not sure certain which one you have there. Wolf spiders hunt other spiders and are the most likely to be found inside the home. They can bite but only if severely provoked. The bite has been compared to a bee sting.

I don't recommend killing spiders (I prefer relocation) but if you feel over-run, you might try a can or two of spider spray found at any grocery store. Spray the entire foundation of your home on a windless or near windless day. This should help you get a handle on things.
