I was weeding some river rock in a swale and out came this little guy. He/She was about 7/8" - 1.25" in diameter including the legs. I am located in Southern Ontario, Canada and was curious as to what kind of spider this is so that I can stay clear of the swale, so I don't get bitten by a poisonous spider.
wolf spider?
I think it looks more like a Funnelweb Spider or Grass Spider. Painful but harmless, if it is.
