Our very high spirited horse, Jazzie, had her 1st colt on Mon. Aug. 15, I was really worried that she might have a problem while giving birth but she shocked us. We were expecting it to be born on Sun. Aug. 21 (my birthday) and wanted a girl, but she couldn't wait any longer to show her new son the world. My husband held her bridle while I gave her the shots she needed and the baby couldn't be still so I had my brother help hold him so I could give him his shots and medicate his belly button. He knows exactly where the milk is and should have black spots to show up as he gets older.
He and I have already bonded after I was mean to him and stuck needles in him; he let me hug him, rub him, kiss him and blow my breath in his face. Maybe next time she will have a girl for us!
The grandkids are really excited; maybe they will visit more often.
