Heading back up through the inland portion of the south west corner, we stopped at a meadery. Three birds which were new to me. First, a Dusky Woodswallow.
A trip to Cape Leeuwin and Augusta
Wow! Amazing work! They are all favs. The shot of the lighthouse is awesome. I enjoyed these so much I viewed the thread twice! How wonderful to be able to visit this beautiful area. Excellent photography of stunning birds. Those close-up shots are fantastic! Sure got my day off to a great start.
I do wish that your sister had snapped a shot or two of the squat-walk!! Would love to have seen that! A video of that would have been a great view on You Tube!! LOL
Thanks, GG. It's a beautiful part of the country. In the "pork chop" area between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin, there are a hundred wineries, several breweries, amazing restaurants and galleries and last, but by no means least, brilliant surfing spots. What is particularly special for me is that there are no sounds, other than the sounds of nature.
LOL on the wish for images of the squat-walk. Here's a shot of the lighthouse from the other side.
Margaret, Thanks so much for posting all the wonderful shots of these beautiful areas! Excellent shots of all the birds! I love seeing the Chat, Thornbill, Silvereye, Woodswallow, Fantail and the lovely Robin!
The Fairy-Wrens are great to see along with that unique billed Pacific Gull. Of course I love the Pied Cormorant and Oystercatchers.
The Australian Pelican is probably my favorite of the pelicans with that bright yellow skin around the eyes and the beautiful pink bill!
Thanks again for showing us some of the beautiful birds and sights from Australia!
Pelle, I'm so glad you enjoyed them. It was my pleasure to be able to share some of them with you. It's the type of place you absorb into your soul.
The second light house shot is as beautiful as the first one!
Did you visit some of those many wineries before you did the squat-walk? LOL
LOL! Not yet!!
Soon. Very soon.
*snort*
And there's a bear on the other side reading a sign, "please don't feed the granny"
LOL
Good one Mrs. Ed. Could also read "Beware of Granny"!
Excellent thread Margaret! Great shots of the bird's!
Thanks, Burd. I'm glad you enjoyed them.
Wowww, Margaret - I am just about to start adding my trip pics and well feel I little intimidated with those wonderful pics...and how colourful are they...really nice, thanks. You will really laugh at my first 3!
Note: there is something familiar about the area and some of the birds too.
What a nice tour of Cape Leeuwin and Augusta!!! superb shots of the birds and congratulation on your 3 new birds. I had a good laugh reading this thread with GG, you, and Mrs-Ed. That would have been quite a sight to see! lol Thanks for sharing that with us.
Rian, I'm glad you enjoyed it. No, I would never laugh at anyone's photos, because no matter how they turn out, they're more than photos; they're someone's experiences and memories. I just happened to be blessed with perfect weather and took advantage of the light. You say there's something familiar about the area and light. Every time I see your shots, the terrain, plants and the lighting look similar.
Burn, it was just wonderful down there. I'd like to go back there soon, but for more than two days. Glad you had a laugh, too. Even if looking out through those bars isn't familiar to GG, it should be. :)
But I am all sweetness and nice--why on earth should a nice old lady like me be behind bars? LOL
For the protection of others. LOL
You're probably right about that! LOL
