This viburnum was planted about 6 years ago and did beautifully every year. Last year, I noticed two large branches rubbing each other and cut one off (see post: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1125525/). This year, almost all the branches had that "rubbed" look (see pic) even though nothing was touching them and some were dead. I cut the dead ones and it just declined, so yesterday, I took the whole thing down. Really sad about that; I loved that viburnum.
Can anyone tell what might have happened? Can I put another shrub or tree there and expect it to grow among the viburnum roots?
