CLOSED: Large Green Insect in Eastern MA, USA?

Nahant, MA(Zone 7a)

Greetings! A friend of mine found this beast in her yard, asked me what it is, and I'm at a loss for an answer. UC Berkeley's BioKey site (http://biokeys.berkeley.edu/inverts/insecta.html) was helpful in narrowing it down, but I thought perhaps someone here might have a specific answer? It measures about 1.5" (3.8cm) and was spotted in eastern Massachusetts, USA.

Many thanks in advance for your help, and a good weekend to you all.

Best,

Arlyn

p.s. My apologies for the erroneous posting in the tomato damage thread. I'm afraid I'm guilty of just plain not paying attention. :(

Good for you for catching your mistake. ^_^

It looks like one of the Katydids but without a clearer pic, I can't tell which one. Maybe someone from your region will know. Or do you have more pics?

Here is a photo of another one she saw a while back. It isn't all that clear either, but I've enhanced it as much as possible and perhaps the coloring is easier to see?

Thanks again,

Arlyn

This one looks a lot like yours. Still a baby.

Thank you! I tried using bugguide.net but it was a bit too scientific for me to navigate properly. On the other hand, I did narrow down to Crickets & Kaytdids with Berkeley's site. I'll forward the information to my friend - she will be very pleased.

Have a good weekend!

Best,
