I couldn't resist. I took one of the wilting roses from my birthday bouquet, clipped it back, and stuck the naked stem in some damp potting soil in a pop bottle greenhouse. Hey, the leaf nodes looked healthy and the rose was SUCH a lovely colour!
Got it bad, don't I? I figured I had absolutely nothing to lose...
Anyone care to place bets on whether or not it will succeed?

I don't know whether your rose will survive or not but I know people who come back ome with a mass of seemingly dead plants only to have them all revive the following year.
