Growing trees from seed

Is there a forum discussing how to grow trees from seed? I don't want to post in the wrong forum. I want to know about Washington Hawtorn seeds I got from a tree where we used to live about three years ago. I just found them. Are they too old to be viable? Also found seed from a red tartarian maple that I purchased to grow several years ago.

hawthorn seeds need moisture and cold stratification , or planting in fall -- but try them anyway
