Help with Identification

(Doug) Murfreesboro, TN

Here is a picture of a morning glory that I have brought up on my flagpole. It has just now bloomed. Can someone help me identify it? I'm not sure where in the world the seeds came from, but the flower is pure and simple and quite lovely.

Doug - It looks like it could be Ipomoea hederacea:

Or more likely ...

That is a beautiful bloom and looks like it really has big leaves. You take such good pictures!
I have a morning glory growing in my ditch and I hope to get to save some seeds this fall. It has spread all the way up to the end of the ditch and I had to beg the state workers not to weed eat it down, I'm glad I caught them the morning they were working up a storm since last year they destroyed it. I think it has came back even prettier than last year.

Pretty wild bloom, Boopsie!

Boopsie, if you can get seeds from that wild mg that would be awsome for me, can send postage or trade ..

Becky,
I reviewed the identification information in the sticky thread. The difference between hederacea and nil is the amount of curve shown by the sepals. Here's another picture of mine. Are these sepals consistent with I. nil?

And here's a picture of the seed pod.

Your beautiful blue blooming vine looks like an I. nil to me. Lovely shade of blue and great photos!!!!

Doug does seem to have a good photographic eye! Super sharp photos, too!

YEAP!! I always enjoy seeing his photos-he should be a professional photographer (if he isn't already). His photos always have such beauty, depth and really shows a person what he wants to say in a photo.
Keep up the great work Cibarius!
