I've been seeing these around the last few weeks, they fly but this guy was collecting small gravel pieces and high-tailing it down that hole with them. Can anyone ID this little guy?

I think this is a blue spider wasp. They dig burrows and drag prey down to feed their young. Very cool.
Thanks Laurel but that was not quite right, antenna on that one is wrong. Someone in my regional forum posted he was seeing these guys around and they are Cricket Hunter Wasps, very similar, they drag crickets and grasshoppers down the hole instead of spiders. I sure hope the wasps get all these huge grasshoppers that have plagued my gardens for years!
I was going to ask you to send me some but we have them. I took one out of the house yesterday.
Well what the heck was he doing in there? Did you tell him the 'hoppers can be found outside???
Umm, not always. :>) Lucky he didn't end up canned!
