I found this insect this morning on a wild grape leaf in Northwestern NY along Lake Ontario. It appears to be a large fly, predatory in nature by the way it was flying quite rapidly in and around the wild vegetation.
Would appreciate any help in identifying it. This is the first time that I have ever seen one of these.
Kind regards,
Jonathan
