I have seen a few of these in the last year of living in the Seattle area, I am wondering if my identification is correct. They seem to be non aggressive so I'm not too worried about them, just curious. Found this one crawling up my wall, 2nd floor apartment in lynnwood, wa (north of seattle). Sorry I don't have the scale of the photo, but he was in between 1 and 1.5 inches leg to leg. I have tried to clean up the image so its easier to see the markings on his back.

CLOSED: Is this a Hobo Spider?
To me, it looks like a Giant House Spider. Tegenaria gigantea. Check them out and see what you think.
Hey thanks for the response, I had not considered that. I think you are correct in that identification, http://bit.ly/pldfxF looks very much like my own picture :) I think I understand now why hobo spiders are so hard to identify, they look like so many other types of spiders, at least to my untrained eye and no magnifying glass :)
