Please could you identify this spider.

Lingfield, United Kingdom

I was doing some pond electrics when I opened up the waterproof box to find this sitting at the bottom, it had crawled in using one of the open hole on the bottom.

I did what I needed and got clear ASAP, I am not scared of spiders but this one looks nasty and I know what I think it is….

I have taken some pictures but they are not great, need a better camera and not the IPHONE.

The spider is jet black with a brown marking on its back, looks like two lines but I must confess I did not get to close…..

See my pictures, if you need more let me know.

The pic is blurry, but it could possibly be a Black Widow, sometimes they retain their immature markings..hence the brown marks on its back.

Muncie, IN

Is that the topside or the underside?....if that's the underside,it is a black widow...but if that's the topside, then it's just a shiney black house spider...if it were a male black widow however,it would'nt have even caught your attention because it would be small, brown and look normal and un-interesting....and not be deadly.
....interesting pic tho....Pac
