Black wasps on my oregano flowers

Can anyone identify these black wasps with blue metalic wings that are hovering around and on my oregano flowers? I've had oregano for years, but have never seen these before. They are acting somewhat like bumble bees. They are not around any other plants/vegetables in the same garden.

This one looks like a Great Black Wasp. Sphex pensylvanicus.
