CLOSED: Looking for an ID for this Bug.

I was wondering if anyone could identify this little critter....
He is about 3/8 of an inch long, suddenly appeared en mass in our garden a few days ago.
They seem to be intent on doing nothing else but mating and eating.
Their diet is very specific, just attacking the one vine (as in the picture)

Local: Ontario
Date: Mid July
Weather Conditions: Real hot spell, no rain to mention for a couple of weeks, temps in the low 30's. (low 90's)

Possibly one of the scarab beetles...there are a couple hundred species in the Us and Canada

That's a Japanese beetle and they're pretty destructive! We've got a few around here, too.

Thanks... Japanese Beetle it is... a member of the scarab family.
