Hey Mary!....I am guessing here..but maybe...a Stiletto Fly (Therevidae) or some species of Robber Fly (Asilidae)...

Hey there, Mike! Hmmmm....robber fly. I'm seeing some pictures online that look like it could be. Wish I'd been able to get a better shot of it, but it turned away from the camera and then flew off.
