I live in Indiana and saw these two insects mating today. I've seen them flying around the yard before. They're quite large, with a yellow- and black-striped abdomen like a hornet, but the face doesn't look right for a hornet. Also, the orange face and legs don't match up to hornet photos I've seen. Any ideas?
