Three Juvies on the feeder and seen two in the tree, one was a juvie for sure , but couldn't tell, if the other was.
DAILY PICS VOL. 406
Wait, wait Nan. A female and two juvies cardinals. :)
Ohhh you are right!! lol too early I guess!
Nan, this is a wonderful time for us all to see baby cardinals. They're all over the place.
Granny, sorry about all those grackles-I had no idea there were that many there.
Nanny, love all those Baltimores! Plus cardinals-enjoy all the pretty birds!
Burn, great shots, especially the goldfinch. Love those chickadees.
Lily, love all those swallows and a robin too!
We went to our state park yesterday-found this Western Grebe out on the lake.
So nice to see the Green Heron's juvies, Duc. I so like your Kingbird.
Nanny_56,
Baby grackles don't even sound cute.
GrannyGrunt,
Have you considered not putting out all that food for a bit until the grackles move on? It seems they know your place is a prime location for food. I have done this in the spring when they congregate here. By this time we are past the heavy snows and cold temps. Once they disperse, I start putting out feed again.
I am a little disappointed. I just looked at all the pictures we took at Heron's Haven in Omaha, NE yesterday and not a single one is IDable. I know one was a Wren of some type, but absolutely no markings are visible in the pictures. Ah well. It was a very nice place in spite of the on and off rain and skeeters that would find any spot that did not get sprayed with Off.
Yep Chillybean, that is what I am doing now. The other problem is that two other birders in the area have stopped feeding for the same reason, so the Grackles were all coming to my house. Now, hopefully, they will move on.
Nice pics everyone - specially love the Teal, right at the top.
Lily - I see you have the swallows now!LOL Its winter here, so all birds are keeping a low profile.
I've been watching, with nothing to post, although I've been thoroughly enjoying everyone's photos of our feathered friends.
I went to the North Mole (entrance to Fremantle Harbour) this afternoon in the hope of seeing some Antarctic Skuas (no luck). I did get some shots of an Osprey on the pointy thing on top of the little lighthouse. Too close to get both birds in the shot, but you'll get the idea.
